Name: Chrissy Cunningham
Age: 17
Canon: Stranger Things
Canon Point: Just as she's about to die in Eddie's trailer
Background/World Information: Wiki here
Personality: Chrissy is, by all outward appearances, the perfect child and cheerleader. She's kind to a fault, purposely not going along with her friends and boyfriend when they bully people. In particular, Eddie Munson. He has a reputation for being a freak, and Chrissy's boyfriend is very much the reason for that. But she actually befriends Eddie, and even opens up to him a bit, letting him see that she's scared and vulnerable. Something she hasn't let anyone else in on.
She very much believes in treating people as they treat her. Eddie is sweet to her, even going so far as throwing him self off the picnic table in an attempt to make her laugh when he sees how worried she really is. But he is kind to her, so she is kind in return.
Chrissy is determined, and has an excellent work ethic. Something we see in her school personnel file. She's the head of the Cheer Squad and has managed to keep up shining grades in most of her classes. Which is no small feat, given how much pressure she puts on herself to keep up the perfect, shining image she's cultivated.
Then there's the issue of her parents, her mother in particular. In school, and to her friends, Chrissy maintains the facade of happiness and normalcy. She's smart, she's pretty, she's popular, and she's dating the captain of the basketball team. But all is not perfect in Chrissy Cunningham's life. We see very early on in the show that Chrissy has an eating disorder, as she is shown purging in the school bathroom's. We're then shown in her nightmare visions of Vecna, that he takes on the appearance of Chrissy's mother. We see this vision tell Chrissy that they've altered her cheer uniform so it should fit again, and this version of her mother then exclaims that if Chrissy doesn't come out of the bathroom stall, they will "gut her like a pig".
Later, we see another nightmare version of her mother, mid-alteration on a cheer skirt, smile at Chrissy with the face of a very literal monster. Chrissy is ruled by this fear of her mother, and the self-image issues that are deeply rooted inside of her due to her upbringing. She's terrified of seeming less than perfect to her classmates, but even moreso to her mother.
Curse: Chrissy is shown, in her brief time on the series, striving to maintain an appearance of perfection and normalcy. This is something deeply instilled in her by her mother. She must maintain a certain weight, a certain physical appearance, the right boyfriend, the right friend group, etc. She goes to extreme lengths to hide any imperfections, no matter how minor. Going off all of that, Chrissy's curse will be that anytime she starts judging herself too harshly (for example; refusing to eat any of the food at the mall because it's all too fattening or worrying about doing something because of what her mother would think) she will no longer have to try to hide, because she will very literally start to become invisible. This can range from very briefly flickering in and out, like a staticky tv to, at the worse end of things, her seemingly disappearing for minutes or hours at a time. Characters will still be able to hear her, though she may sound fainter than normal, but they will not be able to see her.
